Divorce Services
So much more than just analysis…
Every client comes with their own distinct needs and objectives. To ensure that every client gets the most out of working with me I offer a variety of services to help you at wherever you are in the process.
- We start with a FREE, confidential, no obligation 15-minute introductory phone consultation. This is a time for us to get to know each other and see if there is a fit for us to work together. We will discuss your situation and see if working with a CDFA™ makes sense for you.
- If there is a mutual interest to proceed then you will receive a packet by email or postal mail with all of the necessary documents that I require to get started. I require a retainer much like your attorney that I draw from as I complete your work.
ANALYSIS OF YOUR PROPOSED SETTLEMENT
- Your next step will be data gathering. Depending on where you are in the divorce process you may or may not have already gathered many of the necessary documents for your attorney. I will provide you with a checklist of items that will be necessary to do a thorough analysis and review.
- When I have received all the necessary documents I will prepare a complete analysis of your settlement proposal. I will delve into all areas of your financial situation including, but not limited to:
- Personal vs. marital property
- Valuing and dividing property
- Retirement and pension division
- Spousal and child support
- Splitting the marital home and other real estate owned
- Tax problems and solutions
- Evaluating spending habits, overstated expenses and possibly detecting hidden assets
- Determining which settlement option(s) makes most sense for you
My turn around time for your analysis and reports will depend upon the type and complexity of the assets and liabilities involved.
Then there are other services offered if you need them…
Clients each come from a different place when it comes to understanding financial matters. For some, you may be encountering your first exposure to paying bills and creating budgets. For others, you may have experience in those areas, but are not familiar with investing and retirement accounts. Or you may be very savvy and just want someone to affirm your concerns. Wherever you are in that spectrum, I am here to guide you in whatever you need.
· My knowledge of real estate investing can prove invaluable in giving you alternative ideas to work with in deciding what to do with your home when it’s not a good time to sell.
· I can help you to prepare spending plans and forecasts for your needs during and after the divorce.
· I can show you how to pay bills and reconcile accounts, including online banking if desired.
· I can help you review your credit file and guide you in establishing new credit accounts in your own name.
· After the divorce process is over I can assist you in areas of insurance and investing needs, if you so desire.
· I can offer referrals to divorce and family law attorneys, collaborative lawyers, therapists, life coaches, and specialists who work with children of divorce.
· I can offer referrals to realtors and mortgage brokers who are sensitive and understanding of the special needs of the newly divorced.
